Red Scarves - February 2011

Felting - Summer 2011

Not many people decide to felt in the summer.  We wanted to try something new.  A few of us met a Paneras to learn how to do this craft.  Making some purses and mittens, we moved on the zippered small bags
.

Come the Fall we showed all the Needlers our projects and this became our next challenge.  We all made felted small bags, lined them and then needle felted designs on the front!!  Finished bags were donated to Care to Knit to be sold at a local boutique.  Realizing the bags were unique, some Needlers made holiday gifts.

Joan and Betty attended a course in wet needle felting at a local yarn store.  This will be a mini-lesson for the future

A WomenHeart Event

On February 12, over 40 women attended a WomenHeart afternoon.  They brought their finished scarves and their needles to work.  Respresentatives from WomenHeart spoke and shared important information pertinent to all who attended.  Care to Knit presented WomenHeart with 103 scarves!

Think red for February and knit or crochet red scarves. Bring comfort, support and encouragement to women who have heart disease. Scarves should be made of only red yarn and be the size of 5” X 60”.
